Quote of the Week
I’m very good at starting things. I like the excitement, the newness, the challenge.
On the other hand, I’m not good at finishing things. I will have projects that sit on my list with just a couple of actions before I can marked them finished. And they’ll sit there for months.
Having all that stuff on my list is stress-inducing. I look at it, and see all the unfinished tasks, rather than the amount of effort needed to finish them.
Thinking about burnout, I then begin to wonder: how much of my stress level is self-inflicted?
That specific question led me to take a look at my project list. Right now it sits at 88 projects. Most of the projects have start and due dates assigned, so they’re not what I would consider “active”.
Looking at the list, I have about 35 active projects. Most of those are in progress, and could be wrapped up with some dedicated effort. So I will work on those, and see if the stress level comes down.
That’s about it for this week’s edition. We’ll see what next week brings. Until then, be productive, be peaceful, and keep your balance.
