Quote of the Week
“There has to be a willingness to constantly accept critical feedback and rapidly iterate to make things better.” –Sam Yagan
I can’t remember where I saw this app, but I installed it, and it is giving me great feedback.
One of the reasons I love metrics is that raw numbers don’t lie. (As a mathematician, I recognize that a person skilled with interpreting numbers can make the numbers say whatever they want, but that’s a story for another time). So raw data rules.
Moment gives me raw data on how I am using my phone, including the simple act of picking it up.
I have to say I was pretty horrified, and pleased, at the same time.
Pleased because I was not spending as much time in email as I thought.
Horrified at the amount of time that got sucked away in social media.
Pleased because I am not spending as much time in games as I thought.
Horrified that I am picking up my phone about every 8 minutes.
I am working to kill my default activities: email and my phone. And this information is helping me do that in a serious way.
That’s about it for this week’s edition. We’ll see what next week brings. Until then, be productive, be peaceful, and keep your balance.
